Emerson

Situation

As an organization dedicated to succession planning and career development for it’s team members, Emerson was looking for a provider to support the development of their high potential individuals. Training would focus on leader presence and concise messaging. The Aiming Ahead Program gives these high potentials the opportunity to develop their skills while taking their next steps toward future leadership positions. Emerson was looking for a high-caliber messaging and presence workshop to align with their high-quality expectations.

Solution

iSpeak provided a tailored Corporate Ovations Presentation Skills workshop with multiple coaches that allowed each learner to deliver their presentations and receive professional coaching, not just peer coaching in small groups. This past year iSpeak also began to enhance the student skill adoption by providing continued coaching with the iSpeak AI Coach after the workshop. Attendees can practice what they learned but also use the AI Tutor to help create future presentation messages.

Success

Since the very first Aiming Ahead Program, iSpeak’s Corporate Ovations has received high scores from each cohort group. Learners consistently express appreciation for the messaging tools which can be implemented immediately back on the job.

CenterPoint Energy

Situation

The Leadership Academy has been a gold standard for leadership development programs within CenterPoint Energy (CNP). Candace Hernandez has led this program for the past 7 years, enhancing it further to provide the highest impact for these future senior leaders. Over 15 years ago CenterPoint Energy wanted to enhance their leadership development program with presentation and messaging skills. The Cohort Groups are assigned internal consulting projects by senior executives. At the end of the Leadership Academy, each cohort group presents their findings and recommendations to the C-Suite for consideration. CNP was looking for someone to help these groups create more clear, concise, and confident group presentations.

Solution

The key for this solution involved three elemental needs. First, everyone needed personalized coaching. Second, the group needed group presentation coaching. Third, presence and messaging were the two critical skills to enhance. iSpeak provided a customized 2-Day Corporate Ovations Presentation Skills workshop with two coaches that allowed each learner to deliver their presentations and receive professional coaching. Prior to the cohort teams presenting to senior executives, iSpeak provides one additional hour of virtual group coaching for final preparation.

Success

While the delivery format has continued to adapt over time, the success of this program can be seen in two major ways. First, iSpeak is still providing this work today because of the elevated scores and results. Second, past graduates have gone on to senior leadership roles and have since asked iSpeak to deliver the Corporate Ovations workshop to their teams!

Workiva

Situation

Every year near the end of Q3 Workiva supports their customer base with “Amplify” convention. Thousands of customers gather at a convention space to network, learn about new Workiva functionality, and share their own success stories. Several of the speakers are Subject Matter Experts, but being on the big stage in front of a large audience may be a new experience. Workiva asked for coaching assistance to help prepare their SMEs and leaders for their big stage experience.

Solution

In both the United States and in Europe (for Amplify Europe), iSpeak provided a coach to work with the speakers both during rehearsals and on the day of the event. Coaching was provided months in advance virtually and then days before the event in person. Coaches helped with movement on the big stage, gestures, and vocal delivery.

Success

iSpeak has been providing coaches for this event for over 4 years now. Feedback from the SME speakers has always been positive, but even more than that, the success on the stage has been felt by their audiences!

Lockheed Martin Space

Situation

Lockheed Martin Space developed an internal Leadership Development Program (EDGE) designed for preparing leaders for future Senior and Executive Leadership roles within the organization. In the multi-month cohort program there were only a few select times for the entire group (50+ learners) to come together in person. They wanted to make the most of their time with tools that can have an immediate impact while only using ½ day of cohort workshop time.

Solution

iSpeak created a customized workshop focused on concise messaging and leader presence. Even with 50+ attendees, iSpeak was still able to create application exercises with personalized coaching and feedback twice in each session! In addition to the presentations with coaching, table groups were engaged in solution-driven discussions and application activities.

Success

Learners enhanced their communication toolbox with more messaging tools and also got to “try them on” with coaching and feedback. The feedback from attendees showed a tremendous appreciation for the tools they can immediately apply.

Arcosa

Situation

The leadership development at Arcosa has always been strong. They believe in developing their current and future leaders from within. One area they wanted to continue to enhance their leaders is with their presence and messaging. They were looking for a 1-day tailored workshop to help the team with further developing authentic leader presence.

Solution

The solution included a morning focused on core values, leader presence, and personalized coaching. Then the afternoon focused on leader messaging to be clear, concise, and influential. The messaging structures practiced included executive summaries and influential pitch messages with more personalized coaching.

Success

The Leader Presence program has been so successful with leaders that attendees are waitlisted due to high demand from leadership nominees. The feedback continues to point to tools and skills that can be immediately implemented.

Quanta Services

Situation

With internal leaders and public-facing speakers, Quanta believes in the power of confident presence and effective messaging. They were looking for a partner to assist leaders who present internally, to customers, and some to the media. As an organization that believes in the consistent improvement of Kaizen, the goal of the training was to provide learners with more tools, practice and coaching.

Solution

iSpeak’s first workshop focused on presence, presentation skills, and messaging. After an initial success with this program, iSpeak was asked to expand the breadth and depth of the skillset with workshops on handling questions (thinking on your feet), and presenting data analytics. Plains All-American

Situation

With a company that provides energy for others, you would expect a high-level of energy in all that they do. The organization has a deep dedication to not only communication skill development, but to the iSpeak Corporate Ovations program. They needed a more budget-friendly solution than engaging with iSpeak for every group that needed presentation skills and messaging training. With an internal team of full-time instructors, they wanted the ability to license iSpeak’s program and deliver themselves.

Solution

iSpeak engaged with two of their instructors placing them on a path of certification. As iSpeak Certified Professional Instructors (iCPI) they would each need to take the full workshop as students, complete the online certificate program, then finally teach the workshop under observation from an iSpeak Certified Master Instructor. The process is a commitment and arduous task.

Success

Both instructors passed every requirement and were certified to now deliver the Corporate Ovations workshop internally at Plains All American. After the observation from the iCMI instructor, he said, “They’re ready!”

SNHU – Southern New Hampshire University

Situation

As an institution of higher learning, education is valued in every role, including their administration and business offices. SNHU was looking for virtual delivery format of workshops in a short tenure format to help with not only presentations but with interpersonal communication, as well. Being more spontaneous, handling questions, and thinking on your feet were requested areas of focus. They wanted more tools for their team.

Solution

iSpeak virtually delivered 2-hour “master classes” for up to 30 learners at a time. The topics included thinking on your feet, handling emotionally-charged questions, and discovery conversations. With the virtual delivery format, the shorter 2-hour segments, and the capacity for 30 learners, attendees were able to more easily fit the training into their schedule. The key to the impact is in the virtual breakout exercises where the new tools are immediately tested.

Success

After the first pilot program it became clear that this format of delivery was well-received and immediately applicable to the job.
